Handel's Messiah

Why see Handel's Messiah?

Experience Handel's Unrivaled Hallelujah

"Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people!" Join us for the good tidings of the beloved classic, Handel's Messiah, performed live by your city's orchestra at this unforgettable Holiday performance. A touch more serious than your usual Christmas Carols evening, Handel's Messiah is a beautiful and memorable composition that makes a wonderful introduction to the power of classical music for new and younger audiences.

This historic piece of music was composed by George Frideric Handel in the Baroque era of the mid-1700s. Nealy 300 years later, the piece has become a quintessential Holiday classic performed each festive season at concert halls around the world. The composition, which is an oratorio, tells the story of the life of Jesus Christ through choruses sung by a choir, from the prophecies before his birth to his resurrection, and contains one of the most famous choruses in classical music - "Hallelujah".

Did You Know?

Handel's Messiah was originally performed in 1742 as an Easter concert, but today has become synonymous with Christmas.

Chorus, especially the Bass section, struggled with some of those very complex passages such as “and He shall purify”. Soloists we’re wonderful. Overall a good performance. ... Read more
